"Shakespeare Bust" Armor Bronze Bookends
Petite-sized William Shakespeare, made circa 1925 by the Armor Bronze Company, a pair of electroformed bronze-clad figural book ends. These bookends feature a bust of the "Bard of Avon" on a pedestal, with original polychrome paint.
Very similar to plate no. 2154 in Kuritzky and De Costa, except that the base design here is identical to another literary pair: Plate no. 1447, which were made by Armor Bronze -- as were our pair here.
SPECS: Measures about 5.2" tall with 3.4" wide by 2.3" deep base, the pair weighs in at 3 lbs 3 oz. Some dents, substantial crazing and loss of original polychrome paint.
The playwright of English Renaissance theatre and a great addition to your collection!
