The great Italian poet Dante Alighieri, “Dante and Beatrice” made circa 1925 by Gotham Art Bronze Inc. A pair of vintage electroformed bronze-clad figural book ends, with original polychrome paint (brownish-red, off-white, and a turquoise-blue). No. 740 in Kuritzky and De Costa, similar designs are more commonly seen from Galvano Bronze and others; this Gotham Art Bronze pair are exceedingly rare.
SPECS: Dante measures about 7.1" tall by about 6" by 3", Beatrice about 6.9" tall. The pair weigh in at 8 lbs 11 oz. Original paint and patina in very good condition considering their age, see the photos. No breaks or tears in the bronze cladding.
