An exquisite rendering by the sculptor, this pair of antique bookends were made in the 1920s by the Pompeian Bronze Company. Petite in size, original and beautifully intact dark patina, original dark-blue felt on the bottoms, one of the pair also has its original paper label.
The Scottish Terrier (also known as the Aberdeen Terrier) is one of five breeds of terrier that originated in Scotland, and over the years Scotties became much-loved family members of Queen Victoria, Franklin Delano Roosevelt (whose Scottie Fala is included with FDR in a statue in Washington, D.C.), Dwight D. Eisenhower, Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, Rudyard Kipling and many other well known figures.
