Sweet and adorable, “Cherub Reading” made circa 1914 by the Armor Bronze Co, a pair of vintage electroformed bronze-clad figural book ends, polychrome paint. These pre Art Deco bookends date to the earlier period of foundry use of the bronze-clad process.
SPECS: Each measures about 6.3" tall, and the base measures 5.8" by 4.5". The pair weigh in at 6 lbs 10 oz. Shopmark cast into the side "Circle in a Shield" (Armor Bronze); also marked on the side "S. Morani" (sculptor). No breaks in the bronze-clad. One of them still has its original foil label on the bottom, which reads: "The Armor Bronze Company, New York City".
